B-MAT Scaffolding was instructed to provide a specialist access solution at a residential property on Ingersoll Road, Shepherd’s Bush, West London, to allow roofing contractors safe access to investigate and repair issues identified on the roof.
Due to the layout of the property, the scaffold access tower was required to be constructed off a lower roof level. This approach provided a stable and efficient means of reaching the affected roof area while avoiding unnecessary disruption at ground level.
An independent scaffolding access tower was designed and erected to provide a fully boarded working platform at the required height. This enabled roofers to carry out detailed inspections, identify the cause of defects, and undertake remedial works safely without reliance on ladders or temporary access methods.
The scaffold configuration was carefully planned to ensure stability when built from the lower roof and to maintain safe load paths throughout the structure. Guardrails, toe boards, and secure ladder access were incorporated as standard to provide effective fall prevention.
All scaffolding was installed by trained and qualified operatives in accordance with TG21 guidance and SG4 safe working at height principles. The access tower was inspected on completion and maintained in a safe and compliant condition for the duration of the roofing works.
Installation and dismantling were coordinated with the roofing contractor’s programme, ensuring access was available when required and removed promptly once the investigation and repairs were completed.
