Short and long term scaffolding hire

Some jobs need a scaffold for a fortnight. Others need one standing for the best part of a year. We hire scaffolding on both terms across London, Essex and Hertfordshire, and the standard of design, erection and inspection is the same either way. You tell us the programme; we build to it.

Hire

Hire includes up to 8 weeks free hire time, subject to terms, so a short repair rarely runs into extra charges. Past that point we agree the extended hire in writing before it runs on, and the scaffold stays inspected the whole time it is up. Overruns happen. Tell us early.

  • Free site visit and written quotation
  • Inspections at intervals not exceeding seven days

The detail

How we approach short and long term scaffolding hire

Short term hire

Most short hires are a few days to a few weeks: a chimney repair, a run of new guttering, a window swap, external decorating. We plan the erection and the strike around your trades so the scaffold is not standing empty. Because the free hire window covers up to 8 weeks, subject to terms, most jobs of this size finish inside it.

Long term hire and contracts

Refurbishments, block re-roofs, school and hospital works and housing regeneration schemes often keep a scaffold up for months. Long hires need more than a good build. Ties get checked, boards get replaced, lifts get adapted as trades change, and every inspection is recorded. We work on that basis for housing providers, councils and schools, including Sanctuary Housing Group and Haringey Council.

What the hire covers

A hire covers the free site visit, the written quotation, the erection, the hire period itself, statutory inspections, and the strike and removal at the end. Where any part of the scaffold stands on a public footpath, the council has to issue a licence before it goes up. We make that application and deal with the borough. Adaptions during the hire are quoted before we touch anything.

FAQs

Questions about short and long term scaffolding hire

Once the scaffold is up, the first period of hire is free for up to 8 weeks, subject to terms. That covers the majority of domestic roof, gutter and decorating jobs from start to strike. If the works run longer, we agree the continued hire before the free period ends so nothing comes as a surprise.

We do. Every scaffold is inspected before first use, at intervals not exceeding seven days after that, and again after anything that could affect its stability, such as high winds or an alteration. Inspections are recorded and the record stays with the job, which matters on longer contracts where a principal contractor will ask for it.
