Scaffolding for roofing work
Roofing is a large part of what we do. Full re-roofs, chasing a leak, a handful of slipped tiles, dormers, flat roofs, ridge and valley repairs. The scaffold is different for each of those, but the aim is the same: get the roofer standing at a sensible height with a proper edge to work from.

We work to roofers' programmes across London, Essex and Hertfordshire, on everything from a terraced house to a school or a block of flats. If the roof is stripped on a Monday, the scaffold is up and inspected before then, and it comes down when the roofer is off, not a fortnight later.

How we approach scaffolding for roofing work
The right scaffold for the roof
A gutter repair might only need the rear elevation. A full re-roof usually needs the lot: independent scaffold front, rear and returns, so the roofer can move round without dropping down and going again. We look at the pitch, the height, the access down the side of the house and what the neighbours will allow, then price the elevations you actually need.
Working lift height and edge protection
The top lift goes just below the eaves so the roofer can work off the gutter line without stretching, and so tiles and battens can be handed up rather than thrown. On steeper pitches we add roof edge protection above the lift, and where work has to happen at the top of the slope, a ridge walkway gives a boarded route along the ridge.
Fitting the roofer's programme
Roofing runs on weather and sequencing. A roof opened up and then left waiting on a scaffold gang is a leak waiting to happen. We book the erection so the scaffold is complete and inspected before the strip starts, adapt it if the job changes mid-programme, and take it down promptly when the roofer signs off. We also cover nights and weekends where a job needs it.
FAQs
Questions about scaffolding for roofing work
Not always. A small repair on a low roof can often be done from an access tower or a single-elevation scaffold. What you cannot do safely is work off a ladder at the eaves. We come out, look at the roof and quote the smallest arrangement that gives the roofer a safe working platform and a protected edge.
Yes, either with a temporary roof over the scaffold or with sheeting to the elevations, depending on how long the roof is open and how exposed the site is. A scaffold-supported temporary roof needs a design, so tell us early if the works run through winter and we will price it in.
